The importance of drinking tea

Learn the etiquette of Chinese tea ceremony

There are three kinds of finger-knocking rituals in the tea room:

1. The younger generation to the elder: Five fingers close together into a fist, the heart of the fist is downward, and the five fingers tap the table at the same time, which is equivalent to kneeling and worshiping with five bodies. Usually three taps are enough.

2. Between peers: Put your index fingers and middle fingers together and tap the table, which is equivalent to clasping fists with both hands. Knock three times to show respect.

3. For the elder to the younger: tap the index finger or middle finger on the table, which is equivalent to nodding. If you appreciate the junior, you can knock three times.

The emperor must kneel to accept the gift, but kneeling during the private interview will reveal his identity, and not kneeling is the crime of deceiving the emperor. So one of the ministers was in a hurry, so he bent his index finger and middle finger into a kneeling shape, and tapped three times instead of kneeling. This is what we often call the "knocking ceremony", also known as "thank tea ceremony".

Seasonal organic arrangements adorn the long teahouse table.

These natural and sensory wonders are designed to compliment the tea being served.

The smell of a welcome pine, a sunflower or rose from my garden enhance the sensory experience of the tea.
